William Francis Hollifield Sr.

William “Bill” Francis Hollifield, Sr passed away Wednesday August 21, 2024. He was born August 18, 1927, to the late Elliott Grayson Hollifield and late Lula Maude Buchanan Hollifield in Mitchell County, NC. A retiree of RJ Reynolds in the Power and Steam Division with 37 years of service. Bill was a man of faith that led others to faith. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Rd., Winston-Salem, NC. Bill volunteered for years at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in the Ministry Department. Bill was a jack of all trades, took joy in maintaining his vehicles, riding motorcycles, gardening, and making knives and walking canes. Bill was the seventh of eleven children. He was preceded in death by his son David Lee Hollifield, his parents Elliott and Maude, his brothers, Elbert Theo Hollifield (Lucy), Jessie Gilbert Hollifield (Kathleen), James Roy Hollifield, John Ray Hollifield (Georgia), and Charles Edward Hollifield (Mary Lou), his siters Virgenia Viola Hollifield Scarborough (Bill), Lillie Okalee Hollifield (Mac), Mary Sue Hollifield (Helms), and Velda Lou Hollifield Sanders (Jack). Bill and Betty were family people and spent numerous holidays and special occasions with their extended families. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 77 years Betty Irene Ayers Hollifield, his son William Francis Hollifield, Jr (Ruth), His grandchildren, William “Will” Francis Hollifield, III (Kim), Sharron Caree Hollifield Key (Jerry) and Elliott Zachary Hollifield, and his great grandkids Victoria Elizabeth Hollifield and Wyatt Trapper Key. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday August 24, 2024, at Hayworth - Miller Funeral Home, 305 Bethania-Rural Hall Rd, Rural Hall, NC with Dr. Brad Stamey and Rev. Brian Alverson officiating. The Family will receive friends at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park, 6850 University Pkwy, Rural Hall, NC
