William Franklin James

Mr. William Franklin 'Frank' James of Advance died suddenly Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born October 23, 1947 to Woodrow and Pauline Tuttle James of Forsyth County. He graduated from West Forsyth High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Himself an only child, he was blessed with a large and loving extended family and many wonderful friends. Frank was a devoted son, a dedicated employee, loving husband, proud father and doting grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him. Since his retirement from Rexam in 2006 he spent most of his time filling the needs of others and taking care of aunts, uncles and anyone else who needed him. He rarely missed a grandchild's basketball, football, baseball game, school play, or horse show. He was a true friend and family man which was evident to anyone who knew him. His passing has created a hole in many hearts that can never be filled. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Shirley Throckmorton James, two daughters- Monica (Nathan) Jones, Marsha (Kyle) Nifong and five grandchildren- Owen, Hallie, Ian, Henry and Will. Will (6), his youngest grandson and namesake, said it best- 'my life was just better with Paw Paw in it'. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 321 Redland Road in Advance, with Dr. Barry Lemons officiating.
