Mr. William Marvin Klinzing, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, serviceman and policeman, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 77. He was born on March 28, 1941 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to William and Mona Mahanna Klinzing. Mr. Klinzing spent his life in service to others. He served his country for 7 years in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a captain in the Winston-Salem Police Department, protecting and serving his community and city for 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed his time working at Roger Marion Automotive, helping out wherever he could. Even as a child he made a difference to those around him, hitting the game winning home run for his team in the 1955 PONY League World Championship. Mr. Klinzing was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Patricia Klinzing and a sister, Shirley Barlow. He is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Crews, Elizabeth Shepherd, and Katherine Klinzing; five grandchildren, William Singletary, Bradley Crews and wife Tilicia, Allen Shepherd, Jr., Hannah Crews, and Danyale Moses; one great granddaughter, Lilah Crews; and one sister, Phyllis Brooks. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Forsyth Park Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Southard officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O.
