William Larry Farrington

Mr. William Larry Farrington, 83, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Monday, April 13, at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston Salem, NC. He was born on October 20, 1942, in Forsyth County to the late David William and Helen Elizabeth Tate Farrington.

Larry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Nancy Bowman, on April 14, 1963. They were one day shy of celebrating 63 wonderful years of marriage.

He was educated in the Forsyth County School System, including Gray High School, and continued his studies at Forsyth Technical Institute, taking multiple trade courses in mechanics and real estate. Larry enjoyed a successful 29-year sales career with Dillard Paper Company before retiring. Never one to sit still, he and Nancy took a leap of faith after retirement and purchased the Old Town Clock Shop in Winston Salem, where they spent 13 fulfilling years selling and repairing all types of clocks. Larry was well known for his remarkable ability to tinker, repair, and understand how even the most intricate items worked.

Larry was an active member of Clemmons Moravian Church, where he served faithfully in many roles, including on the Board of Trustees, Young at Heart, Men’s Fellowship, and the Fellowship Sunday School Class, where he had previously served as class president. Most importantly, Larry was a devoted Christian, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a loyal friend. His family was the center of his life.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughters, Lisa Farrington Cockerham (Donald) and Kelly Farrington Cox (Kevin); three granddaughters, Kaitlyn Cockerham Stefanick (Michael), Abby Ann Kathryn Cockerham, and Tate Lauren Horvath; three grandsons, William Miklos Horvath, Jack William Cockerham, and Colton Miklos Horvath; and one great grandson, George Michael Stefanick. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Farrington and Carol David Farrington, and his sister, Marjorie Farrington Herndon.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Clemmons Moravian Church in Clemmons, NC, with the Rev. Christopher C. Thore, the Rev. Christy Clore and Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the church parlor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Clemmons Moravian Church. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rakhee Vaidya and the staff of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, the nurses and staff of the 7th Floor Oncology Unit at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, and the compassionate team at Trellis Supportive Care for the loving care shown to Larry during his illness.
