Mr. William J'Van Morgan, 84 of Winston-Salem died Friday, January 3, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 10, 1929 in Stokes County, the son of the late, Charlie Davis and Annabelle Martin Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a member of Advent Moravian Church and was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He served with the 5th and 18th Infantry Division of the US Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Granger Morgan and two sisters, Hazel Moore and Mary Louise Morgan. Survivors include one son, James David Morgan of Durham; one sister, Blanche James and husband, Dale of Clayton; three brothers, Charlie D. ""Jack"" Morgan and wife, Myra of King, Don Morgan and wife, Linda and Wayne Morgan of Germanton and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM at Advent Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of Arbor Ridge Retirement Home for the care given to Mr. Morgan during his stay there. Online condolences
