Mr. William Lee Nelson, 77, of Tobaccoville, died Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following a brief illness. Mr. Nelson was born December 13, 1948 in Forsyth County to Robert Stanley Nelson, Sr. and Marybelle Kiser Nelson. He served as an engineer in the United States Army during the Viet Nam era, and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Belvoir, VA and in Central Europe in Germany. He retired as a journeyman machinist from Westinghouse Corp., after 35 years of faithful service. He enjoyed the game of golf, loved taking cruises and traveling abroad with his wife, and had a special and enduring relationship with the Lord. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Kathy Baker Nelson, of the home and his daughter, Kristina Nelson Ingram and her husband, Chris, of King. As per Mr. Nelson’s request, all services and burial will be private. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 290, 436 S. Main Street, King, NC 27021 or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Atrium Health WFU Baptist Cancer Center, Trellis Supportive Care and the staff of the Kate B.
