William Russell

Mr. William Lee Russell, 97, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center in Yadkinville. He was born on August 31, 1921 to the late Oscar Leo Russell and Lula Phillips Russell. Mr. Russell served our country proudly in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Pilot Freight Carriers with 36 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma Winters Russell; one grandson; and two sisters. Surviving are four children, Alvin Russell, Calvin Russell (Sharon), Nancy Booth, and William Lee Russell Jr. (Susan); five grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday October 22, 2018 at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating. The Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm, Sunday October 21 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall.
