William J. "Bill" Walker

WINSTON SALEM-William J. ""Bill"" Walker, 83, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1932 in Forsyth Co. to the late T. Alfred and Dora W. Walker. Bill was a member of Kerwin Baptist Church, a United States Army Veteran, and was employed for approximately 20 years with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.; he then started his own business operating heavy equipment from which he retired. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald A. Walker. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Jo of the home; two sons, Tommy (Lisa) Walker and Greg (Christy) Walker; grandchildren, Jamie (Jessica) Walker, Wesley (Lauren) Walker, Jordan (Hannah) Walker, Emily Walker and fiancé, Evan Duggins, Ashlyn (Daniel) Morgan, Bradley Walker, Riley Walker and friend, Taylor O'dell, and Maggie Jo Walker; sister, Melba Beeson and her children, Jane (Earl) Oakley, Philip Beeson and Ann Beeson; his late brother's children, Debbie (Terry) Canter and Bonnie Flynn; brother in-law and sister in-law, Buford and Shirley Jessup and their sons, Todd, Tracy and Trent Jessup; and a very special friend, Carl (Jo) Leftwich. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Kerwin Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Hawtree, Dr. Joe Myers, and Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Kerwin Baptist Church Little Caiden Hawtree Fund, 4520 Old Hollow Rd., Kernersville, NC 27284. Preli, Turner and Sullivan, the Cardiac Critical Care, ICUN and ICU3 for their care and compassion to Bill and his family.
