William "Roger" Richardson

William “Roger” Richardson, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Roger was born on July 24, 1934 in Forsyth County to the late Garner William Richardson and Nona Walser Richardson. He was employed with R.J. Reynolds as an Oil Machine Repairman, retiring after 34 years. Roger was a member of Goldfloss Baptist Church.

Roger and his wife Sandra loved to travel whenever they could, and he took 31 cruise trips to various places in his lifetime. Roger also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid crappie fisherman, winning numerous tournaments over the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Holcomb.

Surviving family includes his wife, Sandra Cox Richardson; two daughters, Lynn Thompson (Jack) and Karen Richardson; stepdaughter, Heather Smith; one granddaughter, Christy; one great-granddaughter, Madison; and one brother, Steve Richardson (Cindy).

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev. John E. Sealey officiating. Roger will lie-in-state on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
