Willie Cope

Mr. Willie Monroe Cope, 96, of Advance passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home. He was born December 29, 1920 in Davie County to Walter Leon and Hattie Rosetta Smith Cope. Mr. Cope served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII and was retired from Hanes Hosiery with almost 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Marie Tuttle Cope. Surviving are six children, Sharon Boger (Ken) of Mocksville, David Cope (Freida) of Advance, Tim Cope (Darlene) of Rural Hall, Deborah Bailey (Beetle) of Advance, Mark Cope (Sue) of Advance and Lisa Hill (Eric) of Mocksville; eleven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; a brother, W.L. Cope (Eunice) of Clemmons; a brother-in-law, Wiley Tuttle (Eva) of Winston-Salem and a sister-in-law, Karlene Cope of Advance. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 27, 2017 at Macedonia Moravian Church with Pastor Zach Dease officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the service.
