Willie Sutton Hill

COLFAX- Mrs Willie Sutton Hill, 91, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge. Willie was born on June 2, 1935 in Chesterfield County, SC to Lester and Irene Webster Sutton. Losing her father at an early age, gave Willie a great insight to family support and instilled a strong dedication to her own family. Her love for caring for others led her to a career as a nurse. She studied at Baptist School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1957. Being from a small town, Willie had a desire to “go places” that was definitely fulfilled after marriage, as she lived in many places around the world, supporting her husband’s career, raising a family along the way. Willie had a strong love for her children and grandchildren. Willie’s family settled in Kernersville in 1968. She was an active member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women as long as her health allowed.

In addition to her parents, Willie was preceded in death by a brother, James Lester Sutton; and a sister, Julia Raye Elliott.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Hugh Hill Sr.; her daughters, Carol Hill, and Candace Hill; her son, Hugh Hill Jr. (Susan); and two grandchildren, Jacob, and Samuel Hill.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
