Wilma Knighten Hardy

Kernersville - Wilma Nadine Knighten Hardy, 74, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Bradford Village West Nursing Home. Wilma was born on March 25, 1943 in Buncombe County to George and Annie Askew Knighten. She loved poetry, writing, music, and reading, but most of all loved her family. Wilma was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church and volunteered at church following her retirement.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Knighten; a half-brother, Donald E. Knighten; and her sister Carol Penley.
Surviving are her husband, Ray Hardy; two sons Brian Hardy (wife, Laura), and Chris Hardy (wife, Rebecca); four grandsons, Caleb, Luke, Jacob, and Jordan; one brother, Michael J. Knighten (wife, Pam); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Boyce officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
