Kernersville – Mrs. Wilma Jean Veach Waddell, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on March 16, 1937, in Forsyth County to Rossie Allen and Eudora Barrow Veach. Wilma was a lifelong member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown. After retiring from RJ Reynolds, Wilma continued to work for 10 more years with Sears. She loved flowers and enjoyed planting them as well as planting tomatoes. She also enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband both on buses and on trains. As she was able, Wilma loved to help others whether it be cooking for shut ins or visiting the sick. She wanted to be of service in any way she could. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by two siblings, Mary Ann Angel and Wayne Veach; and one niece Debby A. Pegram.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 45 years, Paul Waddell; two children, Jimmy Wilson (wife, Renee) and Lisa Lambert; two stepdaughters, Terri Hoots (husband, Kent) and Sandra Waddell; two grandchildren, Kristi Pouliot (husband, Chris) and Jason Lambert; four great grandchildren, Uriah, Logan, and Madison Pouliot and Caleb Shelton; her sister, Thelma Lemons; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Wilma will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Albert Pollock officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103, Mountain Valley Hospice at PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
