The angels lifted Xavier Franklin Crawford to the Pearly Gates on August 23, 2016, where he let the ""work"" he's done speak for him. He was born to Ruby Thelma Crawford on August 15, 1953. Xavier was educated in the WSFC Schools System. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 40 years of service. He was a Deacon at Genesis Church before declining health and was an active honorary member of St. James United Methodist Church in Rural Hall, with his wife. Xavier had an extremely large and caring heart. He helped all those he encountered, if he could. Xavier, affectionately known as ""Squirrel"", was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. He dearly loved all of his families. Xavier leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife Bridgette Crawford, of the home; two sons, Jamal and Travis Crawford of Winston-Salem; two step-children, Timeka Spease of Winston-Salem and Timothy Spease of Rural Hall; his mother, Ruby Hinson and husband, Jerry; six grandchildren: Essence, Jamaya, Ayanna, Xavier, Draden, and Jaylana; brother, Kevin Hinson; aunts, Emma Sims and Doris Crawford; uncle, William Crawford; cousins that loved him dearly: Constance Sims, Ray Sims (Joyce), and Elder Betty Davis. Xavier was preceded in death by the mother of his sons, Ruby Crawford in August 2003. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 noon Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Paul Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 to 11:50 a.m. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com. (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall)
