Yvonne B. Winters

Yvonne B. Winters, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Arbor Acres - Strickland Place Skilled Nursing, in Winston Salem, NC, with her daughter by her side.

Born on June 18, 1934, in Newton, Illinois, Yvonne was the daughter of the late Alyousius "Louis" and Cecilia Nix Bigard. Her journey through life was marked by elegance, grace, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends.

As an active parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Yvonne's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She dedicated time volunteering with Catholic Social Services and Cancer Services of Winston-Salem, NC, offering her time and compassionate spirit to those in need. Yvonne was known for her ability to make everyone feel special with her attentive listening and heartfelt conversations. She was the perfect hostess, delighting in planning events that brought joy and connection to others.

Family gatherings were a highlight of Yvonne's life, where her warmth and generosity created a loving atmosphere for all. Her elegance and grace touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts.

In addition to her parents, Yvonne was predceded in death by her siblings, Joe, Jim, Bob, Georgiana, Norma, and Janet; and her devoted husband, Steve Winters. She was a beacon of love and strength for her children, Jodi Tate (Henry Beeson) and David Winters (Audrey Williams); and her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Lily Winters, Jake Winters, and Sam Winters (Megan); and her great-granddaughter, Ivy Winters. Yvonne is also survived by her sisters, Marilyn Lehrer and Shirl Ackeret; sister-in-law, Ann Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

A memorial mass in celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, where her presence and contributions were deeply valued, on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service at a location to be announced. 

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arbor Acres - Strickland Place Skilled Nursing and Arborview Memory Care for the care and kindness they provided to Yvonne every day. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her, as she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion.
