Zerilda Mae Joyner Amos

Zerilda Mae Joyner Amos 90, of Walkertown, NC, went to her heavenly home on October 2, 2023. Zerilda “Dump” was born February 11, 1933, to the late Robert Lee Joyner, Jr. and Ada Mae Collins Joyner. She attended Rural Hall schools. She was proud of her 12 years of perfect attendance. On October 6, 1951, she married the late Charlie Richard Anders. In life she worked at Hanes Hosiery/Sara Lee and Salem Carpets. She was a longtime member of Freedom Baptist in Rural Hall NC. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, camping, dancing, music, and singing. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In addition, she spent time with her extended family, special friend Shirley Rome, and many others. Zerilda is survived by a large and loving family including daughter Diane Anders Pritchard (Ralph) of Walnut Cove; son, Richard Harvey Anders (Martha) of Kite, GA; daughter Peggy Ann Quate (Jack) of Walnut Cove, NC; six grandchildren, Susan Pritchard Cordell (Charles), Travis Pritchard (Beth), Jason Anders (Limayri), Christopher Quate Patterson (Mintie), Nathan Quate (Emily), and Seth Anders; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley Cordell, Joshua Cordell, Lauren Pritchard, Jacob Pritchard, Jasper Quate, Jason Anders, Sophia Anders, and Diana Patterson. In addition, she is survived by her siblings Roberta Grantham, Ovilla Joyner and Arlene Lowe of Stanleyville, NC. She also loved her very special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Zerilda is preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Hunter Anders; ten siblings, Ruby Lee McGee, Mary Louise Reid, William Harvey Joyner, Lorton Harris Joyner, Clorinda Renegar, Charlie Raymond Joyner, Kelly Ray Joyner, Robert Lee Joyner III., and Bobby Augustus Joyner; and special friends, Gwyn Clodfelter and Moir Slate. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00pm Monday October 9, 2023, at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC with Pastor Jon White officiating. Interment will follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 12:45pm Monday October 9, 2023, at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC, or to the Leukemia Foundation.
