When her daughters were older, she began her second career in the banking industry working in the area of bookkeeping.

After retirement, Jean and Wayne moved to Long Beach, NC for nine happy years before moving back to Winston-Salem to care for family members. They enjoyed traveling in the United States and internationally.  During the 1990’s they visited all fifty states. Their adventures also included visiting Canada, Russia, Switzerland, France and Italy.
