Betty Smith

Betty Lou Smith, 89 passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center.  She was born May 5, 1931 in Walnut Cove, the daughter of John and Cornelia Smith.  She was a member of Advance First Baptist Church and was retired from AT&T.  Betty was an avid reader, loved to dance and enjoyed listening to music.  She loved her family who was her heart’s desire.  “For your heart will always pursue what you value as your treasure” Matt. 6:21.  Betty was a true grateful southern woman who had fire in her soul and grace in her heart.  She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Creel; her parents; a sister, Virginia Tuttle and two brothers, Jack and Joe Smith.  Survivors include her daughter, Ginger Bennett of Advance; three grandchildren, Jacquelyn Smith of Clemmons, Laurin Getter and husband, Van of King and Taylor Bennett of Advance; three great grandchildren, Megan Smith, Cody Clark and Ryan Getter and many nieces, nephews and friends.  A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday September 26, 2020 at Advance First Baptist Church with Pastor Rodney Hellard officiating.  Burial will be private.
