Betty Tilley

Mrs. Betty Lankford Tilley, 88, passed away Monday January 23, 2023. She was born August 1, 1934, to the late Joseph Cornelius Lankford and Mamie Childress Lankford in Wilkes County. Betty was a beautician for fifty years, a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in King, a lover of gardening, and helpful to anyone she knew was in need. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving Husband, Walter Herbert Tilley, a daughter; Penny Whitt, a son-in-law; Frank Ballard, and eight siblings. She is survived by her three children; Debra Stanley (Jim), Diane Ballard, and Douglas Herbert Tilley (Renee), four grandchildren; Raoul Whitt (Beverly), Joelle Lawson (Jeff), Lauren Petrucci (Joey), and Landon Tilley, five great-grandchildren; Brea, Olyvia, Bella, Ivi, Vincent, and one sister; Marge Wall (James). A funeral service will be conducted 2:00PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Scott Vernon officiating. Burial will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
