Mr. Charles Glenn Palmer, 65, passed away at his childhood home in the Francisco community on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, after a brief battle of cancer. He was born on December 20, 1956 the son of the late Glenn and Louise Palmer. Charles was raised in the Francisco community, where he grew up in the tobacco fields, camped with the Boy Scouts and faithfully attended Francisco Presbyterian Church. He was very gifted, a self-taught piano player who entertained us well for many years. Charles was the recipient of many commendations for meritorious service. After becoming medically retired from the Marine Corps, he joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having seen combat in Beirut, Lebanon. After his retirement, he returned to his studies and earned his degree in Accounting from Western Carolina University. Charles began his second career with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, where he served until his recent retirement. He is survived by his wife, Sunanta Konkaew Palmer; his son, Phil Palmer and wife Tonya of Francisco; his sister, Leann Miller and husband Bobby of Walnut Cove; and many cousins and friends.
