Charles Touchton, Jr.

Mr. Charles Eugene “Gene” Touchton, Jr. age 80 of Lexington, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at his home after a year of declining health.  He was born November 11, 1941 in Pavo, GA. to the late Charles E. Sr. and Marie Childers Touchton.  Gene served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962 aboard the USS Little Rock during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Gene met the love of his life, Linda Burke in 1960 and later married in 1961 and they just celebrated there 60th wedding anniversary October 22, 2021.  Gene worked in the grocery business for over 40 years and in 2004 Gene retired from BI-LO in Winston-Salem, NC.  Gene was a very hard worker and took pride in everything he did.  Gene was a member Reeds Baptist Church in Lexington, NC.  He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.  Gene was very proud of his family who survives him, his wife Linda Burke Touchton of the home; one daughter, Jamie Touchton Higgins (Adam) of Clemmons; one son, Dr. Bobby J. Touchton (Trina) of Milton, FL.; one granddaughter, Hannah Touchton AL-Nahhas (Louai) of Creedmore, NC; two grandsons, Parker Touchton of Centerton, AR. and Noah Higgins of Raleigh, NC and one wonderful great grandson two year old Laith Layl AL-Nahhas of Creedmore, NC.  Also surviving are two dear sister-in-laws that Gene considered as sisters, Barbara Burke of Gibsonville and Peggy Baldwin of Burlington.  A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, NC.  The family will receive friends following the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
