Mr. Charles “Charlie” Howard Adams, 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at his home. He was born May 18, 1929 in Forsyth County. Mr. Adams retired as Battalion Fire Chief with the Winston-Salem Fire Department with 31 years of service. Mr. Adams was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Montgomery Adams and Martha Royall Adams; his first wife, Daphne Fletcher Adams and a brother, Norman Gray Adams. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Swaim Adams; two children, Mark Adams and Melanie Adams, both of Winston-Salem; a sister, Jean Jarvis (Gail Shirley) of Winston-Salem; a step son, Robin Dixon (Cindy); step grandchildren, Rob and Ryan Dixon; a special friend, Tommy Luper (Sue) and a special nephew, Rick Adams. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Preacher Eddie Brackett officiating. Entombment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Winston-Salem Fire Department Historical Society at the ERCU, 1777 Link Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
