Mr. Charlie E. Simmons, Jr. “Toby”, 88, passed away Sunday December 4, 2022, at his home. He was born February 1, 1934, in Surry County to the late Stella and Charlie E. Simmons, Sr. Toby was a big time UNC Tar Hill fan, a loving provider for his family, the type of person to always help others, and a member of Gideons International for many years. Toby was a longtime faithful member to Freedom Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Sister and brother-in law; Opal and Monroe Wilson and a granddaughter; Hannah Marie Robinson. Toby is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Mary Kay Simmons, his four children; Beverly Cornett, Gregory Simmons (Tammy), Chuck Simmons, and Bill Robinson (Joan), six grandchildren; Stephanie Whitehead (Nate), Christina Combs (Ben), Victoria Alexandria (Christopher), Sarah Elisabeth Robinson, Dillon Simmons, and Christopher Smith, Three great-grandchildren; Jack Alexandria, Bennett Combs, and Adeline Whitehead, one brother; Jerry Simmons (Barbie), one sister; Diane Cooke (Tim), a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, and last but not least, his loving companion Boggie who he was never seen without. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday December 7, 2022, at King Memorial Park with Pastor Jon White Officiating.
