David Taylor, Sr.

David Eugene Taylor, Sr., 71, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on September 9, 2021. David was born on March 23, 1950, to Jubel Jahue Taylor and Mildred Yates Taylor in McDowell County, WV. Following graduation from East Forsyth High School, David served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He went on to start his own business, Lewisville Electric, Inc. He quickly earned the respect of the community and remained a successful business owner/operator for 32 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. David will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, a man who believed in second chances, and would give without hesitation to anyone in need. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Thomasene Taylor; and his brothers, Charles and Jubel Taylor. Surviving are his wife, Merlette Taylor; sons, David Taylor, Jr. (Katrina), Dennis Taylor, and Daniel Taylor (Chelsea); granddaughter, Ellie Taylor; sisters, Mary Riggins (Don), and Debbie Boyles; as well as extended family and many loving friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 17, 2021, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
