Mr. Donald Ray Halsey, 81, of Pfafftown, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He was born in Forsyth County on July 27, 1939, to the late Opal Greek and Ella Vergie Whittington Halsey. Mr. Halsey was retired from Wake Forest University. After his retirement, he began working part-time for Flow Chevrolet. He was a prankster and had a playful personality, but most importantly, he loved his family, especially his granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Halsey is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Burcham Halsey, a sister, and two brothers. Surviving are his two daughters, Cheryl Billings and Karen Tharington (Keith); two granddaughters, Jennifer Freeman and Donna Vernon; two great-grandchildren, Logan Freeman and Cole Cooke; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Forsyth Memorial Park, officiated by Dr. Robert Long. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Forsyth Humane Society, 4881 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
