Donald Melvin, Jr.

Mr. Donald Marion “Don” Melvin, Jr., 76, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born on August 13, 1944 the son of the late Donald Marion Melvin, Sr. and Alice Wayne Johnson Melvin. Don was saved by the blood of Christ on July 5, 1970. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and worked in the bus ministry for 50 years.  Don married the love of his life, Betty Cavender Melvin, on December 10, 1964. He retired from Imperial Vault Company in King with over 20 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Compian, Sue Goff and Patty Collins. Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Cavender Melvin; two daughters, Kristy LuAnn Sheppard (Richard) and Teresa Michelle Hall (Wayne); and three sisters, Pauline Miller, Barbara Brewer and Donna Hepler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his loving church family. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons and Mr. Don Walker officiating. Burial will follow in King Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Woodland Baptist Church.
