Doris Landers Jones

Mrs. Doris Landers Jones, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021.

Doris was born September 27, 1931, in West Virginia to Brady Hampton Landers and Sylvia Martin Landers.  She married the love of her life, Byron Lee Jones, in 1947 and they shared a life together for 72 years until Byron’s death in 2019.  They enjoyed spending time at the coast (she loved collecting seashells) and making a loving home for their three children.  In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Jones, sisters, Nettie Hively and Pauline Landers, and son-in-law, Ronnie Shumate.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Barbara Wilson (Rick) and Susan Shumate; daughter in law, Sherry Jones; sister, Helen Stricklen (Bob); grandchildren, Kimberly Hammons, Kendyl Jones, and Michael Berrier; and great-grandchildren, Wesley Jones and Greyson Berrier, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
