Gregory Blankenship

Gregory (Thunder) Blankenship, 65, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, May 7th, 2022, following a long illness. He was his mother’s best valentine’s present, born Feb. 14th, 1957, in Welch, WV. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Jimmy Harold and Peggy Anne (Brown) Blankenship, his older sister and younger brother.

Greg was a pharmaceutical delivery driver to the elderly for Rite Aid and Beckley, WV for 6 years.

Surviving is his high school sweetheart and wife of 44 ½ years, Teresa Blankenship, Daughters Tera Johnson, and husband (Josh) of Beaver, WV, Tasha Curry of Delbarton, WV, and son Timothy Blankenship and wife (Carrie) of Princeton, WV, Three Grandsons, Nathan and Christopher Blankenship of Princeton and Noah Collins of Delbarton, WV, along with his faithful dog, Koda, and cat, Rogue.

Greg loved to build and race RC cars. He was so dedicated to the craft, he missed the birth of his daughter, but made sure to bring her home a first-place trophy. He loved his rock music, sports teams, model building, Disney, Horror/sci-fi movies, and his family. Greg was lucky enough that he grew up to be a kid. Before passing, he forged a 65-year trail of laughter, generosity, wisdom, and wicked fast left turns.

He will be missed by a host of loving family and friends turned into family.

The family wanted to leave you with some of his favorite words of wisdom.

“Remember, the force will be with you. Always.” -Obi-Wan Kenobi

“No one’s ever really gone.” -Luke Skywalker

“Now, be brave and don’t look back.” -Shmi Skywalker
