Helen Whited

Our mother was born in Akron, Ohio, to the late Ernest M. and Ruth Harriet Hahn Kastner. After graduating from high school, she left the children’s home and was fostered in her young adult life by a wonderful family, the Prophits. She continued her education with a 2-year degree in business and record keeping, working for a mortgage company.

She married our father, James Preston Whited, and they were married for 53 years until his passing in 2013. Our parents have 5 children, Preston, Thomas and wife Robin, Marla, Cindy, and Johnnie and wife Dana. She has two brothers, Jim Saffel and David Kastner, as well as a sister Franes Saffel Williams.

Our mother had great faith in knowing our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Her highest life accomplishment was raising a family to know Jesus Christ. She often read us Bible stories when we were young children. She was a good cook, and we grew up with our favorites—gravy and biscuits. She also loved to write, she wrote many letters to family and friends. As well as letters, she enjoyed journaling about her family and life experiences, which we read in joy as we reminisce in her memories.

She has ten grandchildren, Preston James (PJ) and wife Tiffany, Kyle, Joshua and wife Abby, Brandon and wife Sarrah, Selena and Husband Chris, Grant and wife Danielle, Hannah, Aaron, Bruce, and Cody, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Amara, Malachi, Brea, Bella, Jett, Dash, Weston, and Lucas.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 30, 2023, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Pastor Casey Bradford officiating. A reception will follow at Helen's residence. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
