James "Jim" Johnson

James (Jim) Emory Johnson, 96, of Clemmons, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.  He was born on September 24, 1924 in Forsyth County to John Frank Johnson and Phisa Harding Johnson.

Jim proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II.  He was married to Ann Herman Johnson in 1957, and in 1960, they moved to their farm in Clemmons.  He had a love of the outdoors and nature, and he took great pride in farming and raising a garden each year.  He enjoyed the art of beekeeping, and he also had a love and appreciation for animals of all kinds.  In fact, he was an avid bird watcher and made bluebird houses which he placed around the farm.  Jim was known as a talented master craftsman.  He was also a skilled tool and die maker at AT&T where he retired after thirty years of service.  Following his retirement, he worked for an additional eight years as a master tool and die maker at Fairchild Burns.

Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Herman Johnson of Clemmons; his daughter, Lynn Johnson Myers (David) of Winston-Salem; his son, Eric Johnson of Clemmons; his daughter, Beverly Johnson (Steve Lineback) of Clemmons; and his grandson, Corey Myers of Winston-Salem.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Agnes Tesh, Lilli Oldham, Louise Sparks, and Patti Ladd; his brothers, Harding Johnson, John Johnson, Maxwell Johnson, and William Johnson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care, kindness, and compassion Jim received during his illness from the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center and Trellis Supportive Care.
