Joann Smith

Mrs. JoAnn Jackson Smith, 78, passed away on March 27, 2023, at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Wilmington, NC. She was born on April 8, 1944, in Forsyth County to the late Paul and Annie Jackson. JoAnn was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Rural Hall. She volunteered for the Pop Warner Little League Football program for many years. She loved traveling, especially to the beach and Gatlinburg, TN. She also loved cooking and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Smith, Sr., two sons, Donald Smith Jr., and Paul Jeffrey Smith, a sister, Pauline Beeson, and a grandson, C.J. Smith. JoAnn is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Bland (Patrick), four grandchildren, Shane Meridith, Cierra Smith, Dalton Smith, and Madison Bland, one great-grandchild, Alayna Jean, two sisters, Thelma Raney (Bob) and Martha Moore (Don), one brother, Leonard Jackson (Susan), and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday March 31, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Evelyn Lemons officiating. Interment will follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown NC. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
