Joe Williams

Mr. Joe Gray Williams, 80 passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his home.  He was born October 4, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late James and Betty Williams.  Joe worked for R.J. Reynolds from 1960-1995 and with the Forsyth County Sherrif’s Department from 1979-2007, where after 28 years of service he reached the rank of Captain.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Joe Gray Williams, Jr. and brother, James W. Williams.  Joe is survived by his son, Scott Williams (Emily); grandson, Chris Burgess; sister, Phyllis Sparks (Chris); former wife, Colleen Hayworth; and many other loving family and friends.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 8th at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Aaron Eaton officiating.  The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 2101 Rexford Rd #165W, Charlotte, NC 28211.
