John Brown

John Andy Brown, 83, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at his home. John was born in Belton, South Carolina on January 15, 1938 to the late James Denver Brown and Ola Othella Hannah Brown. During childhood his family moved to North Carolina and he graduated from Harding High School in Charlotte. John retired from Zeneca Specialty Inks where he was employed as a Sales and Technical Service Manager.  He was a member of Kernersville Moravian Church. John had a love for music and was a talented guitar player and singer.  He formed and played in the bluegrass band Crusher Run for many years, performing in venues near and far.  In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Brown; and son-in-law, Eric Martinson. Surviving family includes, Jo Ann Holden Brown; his children, Jean Martinson, David Brown (Gwen), Lisa Pruitt (Robert) and Angela Davies (Ken); 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Brown; Iris Brown; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Kernersville Moravian Church, with The Rev. Dr. Bill Campbell, The Rev. Cynthia Campbell and The Rev. Christy Clore officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
