Juanita Algine Hauser Pardue

Juanita Algine Hauser Pardue, 92, of Rural Hall died peacefully at Priddy Manor in King on May 10, 2022. She was born in Rural Hall on December 18, 1929 to Roger and Lillian Hauser. Growing up as part of this musical family, she always enjoyed singing harmony and playing the piano. Juanita was a cheerleader and a graduate of Rural Hall School, where she was voted “Biggest Flirt” in her senior class of 1947, which likely captured the attention of her future husband, Harvey, who himself was voted “Wittiest” class member. She and William Harvey Pardue were married on September 4, 1948 and enjoyed nearly 69 years of marriage and lively partnership prior to his death in 2017. Juanita worked for more than 30 years in Central Shipping at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, a career woman in an age when most were not. She and her family, which grew to include three children, enjoyed many camping trips, especially to Hanging Rock State Park and Triple S Pier in Atlantic Beach. Juanita was a faithful member of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall, singing alto in the church choir. The choir was a precious part of her life and her service to her Lord. And of course, along with her church family she helped to prepare many a chicken pie! Together with Harvey, Juanita worked on church building teams through the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, contributing their resources and labor to build churches in the United States, Puerto Rico, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In retirement, Juanita enjoyed extensive travels across America with Harvey, by car and in their trusty Vanagon, including two cross-country trips to Alaska. Even into their 80s, Juanita and Harvey worked side by side as dedicated volunteers with the American Red Cross, serving in disaster areas across the United States. Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved Harvey; her parents, Roger and Lillian Hauser; brothers Robert and J. Lee, and sister Jackie Hauser. She is survived by three children, Sherry Fulk and husband Brad of Tobaccoville, Doug Pardue and wife Nancy of Willow Spring, and Anita Paschall and husband Pete of Hubert; six grandchildren, Heather Dotson, Angela Cain, Meredith Bailey, Jennifer Conover, Alyse Arnold and Austin Flick; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Sandy Hauser and Gail Hauser. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11 a.m., at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall with the Reverend Bruce Updyke officiating. Memorial contributions in honor of Juanita’s life may be made to Kingswood United Methodist Church or to the American Red Cross.
