Larry Snyder

Larry Wayne Snyder, 80, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away June 26, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center, due to complications of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, an incurable, nasty lung disease, and pneumonia. He was born in Greensboro, NC, on November 10, 1941, to the late Erwin “Red” Snyder and Irene Ashworth Snyder.

Larry's mission was to always make someone laugh and smile each day.

Larry graduated from Summerfield High School in 1960 and served in the Army National Guard.  After early retirement from AT&T, he was able to spend more time traveling with Barbara by his side as his navigator and himself behind the wheel. He ventured on several road trips rv-ing across the country and enjoying many of Americas National Parks. They were also fortunate enough to visit several foreign countries. Larry especially enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing and hunting. Later in life, they ventured to Florida and made many new friends. Larry’s favorite pastime included listening to Southern gospel music and working crossword puzzles. Larry was always strong in his Christian faith and served in several leadership positions at Union Cross Baptist Church in Kernersville, NC, and Pilot Mountain Baptist Association.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin “Red” Snyder and Irene Snyder; and his son, Eric Snyder.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Farmer Snyder; and his son, Douglas “Doug” Snyder of Wilmington, NC; 3 sisters, Ramona (Larry) Angel of Summerfield, NC; Brenda (Ron) Burris of Hendersonville, NC; Betty Anne (Mitch) of Summerfield, NC; and several other special nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held for Larry at Union Cross Baptist Church in Kernersville on Wednesday, July 6th, 2022, at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Benn Fleming and Dr. Steve Ayers officiating.
