Mrs. Louvenia “Lou” Cox Tucker, 79, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 due to a several week battle with respiratory complications.  She was born August 22, 1939 in Stokes County to the late Lespie Cox and Maggie Taylor Cox.  Lou was a loving sister and aunt.  She attended Bethany Baptist Church and was retired from AT&T where she worked most of her life.  Lou loved birds, watching them and feeding them all throughout the year. She was an avid reader until later in life when she was diagnosed with glaucoma.  Lou also had a love for horticulture, planting the most beautiful flowers and making sure her yard was without flaw.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Brooks Tucker and sister, Betty Cox Lane.  Lou is survived by her four sisters: Jean Boyles (Bob), Pat White (Ronnie), Louis Cox Smith, and Helen C. Essick Jolly (Glen); special niece, Karen White Eggers (Tony); six nephews: Gary Lane, Steve White, Paul White, Jeff Smith, Brian Smith, and Taylor Essick; several great-nieces and nephews; close friend, Barbara Caudle; and many wonderful neighbors.  A funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 17 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Brian Alverson officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
