Nancy Goudy

Mrs. Nancy Glover Goudy 84, of Lexington, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 13, 2019, she was the beloved wife of Joel Goudy, with whom she shared 62 blessed years of marriage. She was born in Hawaii and grew up the daughter of George and Mildred Holt in Scotch Plains, N.J. and was the big sister of three siblings. Nancy and Joel made their church home at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, NC where she loved serving at the food pantry. Her faith in Jesus Christ was a strong and steady influence on her family, and family was one of the most important things in her life. Nancy was at her happiest when everyone was home for the holidays and packed around her dining room table. Adoringly known as “Gigi”, she loved her nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Nancy loved to paint. She used that talent to teach art to preschool students, which brought her great joy. She loved spending time at the beach, and she painted many of the sand dollars she found on the shores near Charleston, SC, as well as oil paintings of sunsets over sand dunes. She was a voracious reader and loved to travel, visiting Hawaii, France, Germany, Aruba and many destinations in the United States. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, The Honorable Thomas R. Glover. She is survived by her husband, as well as her three children and their spouses, Glenn and Susie Goudy, Bonnie and Scott Soper, Richard and Marta Goudy; her grandchildren, Foster Goudy, Melanie Faxon, Sarah Goudy, Corey Reich and wife Kimberly, Emily Faxon, Connor Reich, Sophie Faxon, Joel Goudy, and Megan Goudy; her great grandchildren, Amelia Goudy, Everett Brinkley, Kannon Reich, and Carter Reich; her brother, Jack Holt; her sister, Carol Holt Lejeune.  She was adored and loved beyond measure and she will be sorely missed by all. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Dr. A. Lee Zehmer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC, 27103.
