Nina Billings Sturdivant, 95, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Homestead Hills. Nina was born on January 6, 1926 in Wilkes County to the late James Billings and Martha Bowers Billings. She was employed with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., retiring after 40 years of service. While working at RJR, she met her husband Howard, to whom she was married to for 60 years. Nina was also a member of Grace Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Nina was always happy and was very welcoming to all those she met. She loved the beach and enjoyed spending time at the family beach house. She also enjoyed spending time outside, gardening in her flower beds and canning. Most of all, she loved receiving photos and videos of her great-granddaughter and would spend hours watching them. Nina was delighted to be able to see her great-granddaughter several times with the last visit during Father’s Day weekend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Graham Sturdivant; and siblings, Waldo Billings, Lillie Swaim, Melba Johnson and Don Billings. Surviving family includes her son, Keith Sturdivant (Beverly); grandson, Dalton Terrell (Molly); and beloved great-granddaughter, Caroline Terrell. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Jim Bush officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park.
