Mrs. Pearl Hayes Smith, 95, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Woltz Hospice Home.  She was born in Watauga County on May 12, 1927 to the late Roby Harvey and Bessie Trivette Hayes.  Mrs. Smith graduated from Cove Creek High School and retired from AT&T.  She was a member of Bethlehem Church in Midway for many years.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Dixie Boots & Saddle Club, loved to entertain, had a nickname of Pretty Pearl and enjoyed dancing at the VFW of Davidson County.  Preceding her in death was her husband, B.F. Smith, Jr.; daughter, Ginger Gale Smith Fishel; grandson, Gregory A. Fishel; sister, Jewel Watson (Hobart); 3 brothers, Baxter Hayes (Janelle), Russell Hayes and Elmo Hayes.  Surviving is a great-granddaughter, Sara Fishel of Emerald Isle, NC; son-in-law, Sidney Fishel of Emerald Isle, NC; nephews, Mickey Watson (Kelly) of Florida, Tim Watson (Alisa) of Boone and Ronnie Hayes (Julie Anna) of Boone.  A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Bethlehem Cemetery in Midway with Pastor Bryan Hullette officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bleeding Disorders Foundation of NC 260 Town Hall Dr. Suite A Morrisville, NC 27560.  The family would like to thank the staff at Brighton Gardens, Mt. Valley Hospice, especially Charity, Legacy Health Care, especially Karolina, and her wonderful, special friends and neighbors at Club Pointe.
