Ronald Zimmerman

Mr. Ronald “Ron” Dean Zimmerman, 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Forsyth Medical Center. Ron was born in Rowan County on December 21, 1944, to Mina Blackwelder and Emmette Ray Zimmerman, Sr. He graduated from Gray High School in 1962 and was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. Ron was an entrepreneur and the owner of Executive Cleaning Services. He took pride in his company and genuinely cared for his customers. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist church for over 40 years and loved the Lord and his church family dearly. Ron was very social, he enjoyed golfing, trips to the beach, and above all his furry companion and Jack Russell Terrier, Molly. He was known for his tenderloin breakfast and could be found at many restaurants around town. Ron and Gay were thrilled when Barry and Cara married in 2018. They adored Cara and felt so thankful to gain such a loving daughter-in-law. The family fondly remembers Ron’s hierarchy of favorite people as follows: the Lord, Molly, and then Cara with Gay and Barry competing for fourth place. Ron was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Emmette Ray Zimmerman, Jr.; one sister, Judy Byerly; and one sister-in-law, Judy Childress. Surviving are his lifelong love and beloved wife of 51 years, Gay Holcomb Zimmerman; one son, Barry Zimmerman (Cara); one brother, Benny Zimmerman; three sisters, Brenda Leonard, Sherry Zimmerman, and Deborah Tant; numerous nieces and nephews, many cherished friends, and a loving church family. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Collins and the staff at Novant Health Oncology Specialists and Alisa Allen RN and the staff at Novant Health Palliative Care for all of the compassion and exceptional care Ron received. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Ken Harris, Pastor Harold Fletcher, and Pastor T.W. Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church’s Building Fund, 2295 Union Grove Rd, Lexington, NC 27295.
