Mr. Tommy Carroll Shields, 74, of Winston-Salem, passed away November 27, 2021 at his home. Tommy was born in Forsyth County on November 24, 1947, to the late Harry Shields and Vivian Parrish Shields. Tommy served his country in The United States Army during the Vietnam War. After serving, Tommy spent the majority of his life working for the Winston-Salem Police Department, serving 30 dedicated years. In his free time, Tommy enjoyed playing golf and attending auctions. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harry Shields, Jr. Surviving are his wife; Judith Shields, sons; Tommy “Jason” Shields (Sara), Larry B. Sanders (Jessie), and Grayling Dwayne Wesley, grandchildren; Harper and Sawyer Shields, Erika Robinson, and Kelsey Pitts (Colten), great-grandchildren; Benjamin and Joanna Sanders, brother; Mike Shields (Lori), and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins in Pennsylvania. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
