Vui "Lillie" Burris

Vui “Lillie” Tran Burris, beloved mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her Winston-Salem home at the age of 83 on January 20, 2023. Born in Vietnam, Lillie, immigrated to the United States in 1970 with her late husband Charles Vernon Burris. Lillie was instrumental in assisting her siblings and many other Vietnamese families to immigrate and establish life in the USA. As the matriarch of the family, Lillie has selflessly dedicated her life to her family and the community. Lillie is preceded in death by her husband Charles Burris, father Pham Trung Tran and mother Tuong Thi Tran. She is survived by her son, Michael Burris and his wife Bonnie Burris, and daughter Maria Adams and her husband Jon Adams. Lillie has 4 grandchildren: Landon Burris and girlfriend Holly Wells, Logan Burris and fiancé Nate Gibson, Matthew Adams, and Christopher Adams and one great grandchild, Ava Gibson. Lillie’s living siblings are Nhung Tran and wife KimHoa, Thuc Tran and wife Cu, Lan Tran and husband Vo, Vi Tran and husband Cam, Thu Tran and husband Chu. A special mention of Deadra Burris, former daughter-in-law and SGM Wayne Stanley who was Lillie’s enduring companion and loving friend. A funeral Mass is planned for Tuesday, January 24 at 10:00 am, Our Lady of Mercy, 1730 Link Road, followed by a graveside prayer at Parklawn Memorial Park. Lillie’s family will be accepting visitors on Monday, January 23 from 5:00-7:00 pm, Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Pkwy.
