Wade Burleson, Jr.

Mr. Wade Daniel Burleson Jr. took the hand of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April 04, 2020. He was born in Wilson County on March 04, 1929, to Wade Daniel Burleson Sr. and Mary Hildreth Burleson Marks. Wade was married to the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Betty Warrick Burleson who preceded him in death in 2011. Wade had four children, six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Wade received his Diploma in Theology and Bachelor of Prophetic Ministry at Piedmont Bible College. Wade retired after many years as a Tire Distributor and 28 years of selling Avon as a team with his wife, Betty.  In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded by one brother, William Burleson; and one sister, Ruby Kjorvesad. Surviving are 10 siblings, Edward, Little Wade, Joe, Barry, Lynn, Tammy, Janie, Martha, Elesye and Dorothy.  Wade was known for his sense of humor and his love for Jesus. Wade and his wife Betty helped many of what they called their adopted children by putting food on their tables and getting them through Bible College. Wade had a strong love for family and was one that felt like families gathered around the table eating together was of great value. Wade played in a bluegrass band many years ago, when Elvis Presley was trying to make himself known. Elvis was the backup singer before Wade's band would sing and Wade always said, "that boy won't make it because he dances too nasty and he sings that old rock and roll mess.” Elvis made it but Wade came off the road because his wife gave him a choice to stop traveling or that was it, and of course Wade chose family first and left the band. Wade was a great lover of bluegrass music and he played the guitar and mandolin, and he could sing tenor like no other. Wade and his wife Betty had a passion for serving God in any way they could, and music was just one of the many ways Wade would spread the Gospel. Wade's son, David Burleson, and Wade's daughter, Punkin Burleson would like to thank many people for their prayers, support and encouragement throughout the years of taking care of their father and a special thank you to their Aunts and Uncles, Ed Burleson, Wade Burleson, Barry Burleson, Lynn Burleson Bowman, Joe Burleson, Aunt Elesye. They would also like to thank their friends, Shae Gross, Butch Bartholomew, Rita Burleson Maugle, Shirley Sidden, Shannon Bodenheimer, Jeff Steele, Kathy Southern, Debbie Miller, Linda Staviski and his granddaughters, Renae Burleson Steele and Danielle Wilson for being a part of their father's life, taking the time to visit him, bring home cooked meals to him,  and being there to stay with their father during times of need. Wade loved to have company and all these people would visit, spend time with him, make him laugh, and show him how much they loved him. Wade dearly loved and appreciated each one of these people and he will be dearly missed. Due to the restrictions of the Federal Government there will be a private viewing and graveside service for Wade at Parklawn Memorial Gardens based on the number that all funeral homes and cemeteries are having to abide by. We know so many of you would have been there if the circumstances were different. Our hearts rest in comfort knowing that our father can now walk, hear, see and is of sound mind as he bows in awe face to face with the One Who saved him by His Grace. The family will receive flowers at the funeral home and or you can donate to the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, 9131 Anson Way, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27615.
