George Ballard Ingle, Jr.

George Ballard Ingle Jr., 79, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 14th, at Forsyth Medical Center, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born November 19th, 1944, in Asheville, NC, to the late George Ballard Ingle Sr. and Vivian “Mimi” Cook Ramsey. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home from suffering significant injuries in Vietnam, he went on to receive his Master’s and Ph.D. in Psychology from Tulane University. He would later obtain his Physician’s Assistant degree at Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. He worked in the Emergency Department at Forsyth Medical Hospital for over 35 years. He had immense passion for his family, medicine, animals (especially a love for German Shepherds), finer things life has to offer, and traveling the world. George touched the lives of many people during his years practicing medicine and was highly respected by his peers and colleagues. George was an incredible father who loved his children to his fullest. He embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, incredible strength and resilience, and dedication to mastering various skills. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Carolyn C. Ingle, of 28 years. He is survived by his two children, George “Chip” B. Ingle, III, and Meredith C. Ingle. He is also survived by son-in-law, Carson A. Apple; daughter-in-law, Courtney L. Klemens; and two granddaughters, Adeline K. Ingle and Eleanor K. Ingle. A special thank you to all of George’s friends and colleagues throughout his life, especially throughout his fight with Parkinson’s Disease and other debilitating medical conditions. Also, a special thank you to the ICU and Palliative Care teams at Forsyth Medical Center whose care and compassion made his final stay more comfortable. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 18th, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
