James Daniel Gore

Dan was born on June 9, 1949 in Springfield, MO to the late Thomas Meddie Gore and Vera Jane Watson Gore. He honorably served his country as a Naval Officer on the USS Shreveport. 

Dan was a fun-loving husband and father. He was a caring man who enjoyed having thoughtful conversations of all sorts, which often revealed his wonderful sense of humor. 

He also loved a good joke, both hearing and telling them. Dan was a talented drummer with a passion for music and his pets, which he enjoyed. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Lee (Gore) Cummings; and two brothers, Thomas Albert Gore and Robert Watson Gore.  

Dan leaves behind to cherish his memory his dedicated wife, Donna; his adoring son and grandson, Jason and Jackson; his loving daughter, Katie; his first wife and mother of Jason and Katie, V. Christine Barger; and brother, John (Fran) Sidney Gore.  

Dan was a kind and thoughtful man and a good friend to all he knew and to those who knew him. He will be missed. 

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Joe Ramsey officiating.  

Flowers will be graciously accepted, or memorial donations may be made to VFW Post 1134, 4129 S. Main St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
