John Stabolitis, beloved husband, devoted father, and grandfather, passed away on March 14, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on February 13, 1940, to the late George and Stamatia Stabolitis, John's journey began in Xelidona, Greece. He proudly served his country in both the Greek Army and Navy as a skilled mechanic. John's life took a significant turn when he met the love of his life, Bessie Hondros Stabolitis. Their romance blossomed through heartfelt letters, culminating in marriage in 1969, before embarking on a new chapter in America. John's culinary career spanned decades. He started as a cook at the original Carriage House Restaurant and later became a partner in the Akron Drive Restaurant. His passion for food and hospitality led him to the Plaza Restaurant in Kernersville, where he continued to thrive. Returning full circle, he concluded his career as a Partner of the Carriage House Restaurant at its current location. John will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his unwavering work ethic, and his warm and welcoming spirit. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will forever endure. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Stabolitis, and brother, Dimitri Stabolitis. He is survived by his loving wife, Bessie, and his children, George Stabolitis (Ashley) and Stacey Vastis (John). He was a loving grandfather to John and Victoria Stabolitis, Nicole, James, and Evan Vastis. John is also survived by his brother, Gus Stabolitis of Athens, Greece, and numerous nephews and nieces whom he loved tremendously. John’s greatest source of pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply and loved unconditionally. The funeral service will be held 12:00 noon at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, March 18, 2024 with Rev. Fr. George Kouzelis and Rev. Fr. Constantine Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10am - 12pm at the church before the funeral. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Trellis Supportive Care for their compassionate assistance during this challenging time.
